There are new photos up on my crafty photoblog. I posted a lot of what I finished this week. There are a few things I’ve not posted yet as they still need to be mailed to their recipients.
I also started my sister’s birthday present and so far I am very pleased with it.
It was a quiet evening. Alan came over to revel in the AC and we had pizza and watched movies. It was the calm evening I needed before my big trip.

Massive Underpantal Failure
It was just one of those days. Construction between my house and the doctor’s office in St Paul. The ramp I park in was closed for upgrades. The new ramp was blocks away. The new ramp did not accept validation from the clinic. I had no cash on me. My car has no air conditioning. They took 47,000 pints of blood after 20 minutes of “blind phlebotomist looking for vein”.
I should have stayed in bed. Or better yet gone to work and whined.
On the other hand….
The yarn shop is buying my messenger bag pattern. I need to put the finishing touches on this one, post pics and get it to my coworker (who is paying me for it). Then, after I get back from new orleans I’ll make the messenger bag for the yarn shop and sell them the pattern. This time I am just licensing the pattern to them so I can sell it in other places as well.
They’re also doing a series of projects comparing knit to crochet results using the same pattern. I’ll be doing most of the crochet work of them. Nice.
Just about finished up Mary Alice’s scarf. Mary Alice is moving to Alaska this week and I am greatly saddened by this. She’s such a doll. I made her a chenille scarf in a basketweave pattern. Pictures posted of that soon as well.
I’e eaten nothing today. I think I deserve a burrito.
Meet Lopsided Bunny!
This is my latest project, Lopsided Bunny! He’s my first stuffed animal.

See how cute he is!

He even has a puff tail

and he’s very saucy!
A great big special thanks to Crochet Me for the pattern and instruction. Next up, I’ll be making teddy bears, little girls with purple hats and maybe hippos.
Soon I will post pics of the new bags I made as well. The messenger bag turned out better than I would have expected.
What I Do
What I do:
A bulleted list
* I made mustard this weekend. That’s right, bitches, I threw down and called out my inner old lady and I made mustard. Mustard. It’s currently ‘aging’ on the counter. Tonight I will grind it and can it in little jars. This is a spicy german mustard. Other mustards to be made: horseradish, dill, curry, chive and cranberry.
* I will also be making jam this week. Strawberry ginger and raspberry spice.
* David is getting ready. He’s going. Sigh. He and Marshall are heading down to New Orleans tomorrow. They plan to take the sailboat out and explore the gulf. He will be gone for many weeks. I will miss him. Who’ll call me ‘Mubs’?
* Do not do that stretching thing where you interlace your fingers together, twist your hands palm side out and stretch if you have recently had surgery on your wrist. The pain can only be described as ‘sharp’ and ‘excruciating’. It will bring tears to your eyes. It will stick with you for hours.
* Went to Penzey’s this weekend. I used a gc from Alan and some store credit brought on by my dad giving me a Penzey’s spice gift set he’d already given me. I shopped like a FIEND. I bought things that I normally don’t.
* As such, if you would like to be invited over for ribs with a spicy rub, peppery pork chops or homemade italian sausage, let me know!
* I have too many crochet projects going at once. I need a good storage system to hold them otherwise my living room gets covered in all manner of half crocheted tidbits.
* Marshall is sitting next to me, he wants you to know how cool he is, he swears, he plays Go a lot, and he is wearing stripey pants. He owns a cute dog but his dog is not as cute as ghengis.
* I am going to miss the hell out of David. Anyone want to volunteer for distraction duty, let me know. I’m gonna need it.
* I have tons of photos that need to be posted. Soon. I promise.
Fuck you, Bartleby
I made a purse this weekend, a cute little thing. It was a last hurrah before my surgery. A last big project.
A coworker saw my purse and asked me to make one for a charity auction she was putting together for a fundraising project her sister was running.
Fine enough, I headed over to the yarn shop again to pick up more yarn. When I got there I showed the owner the purse I had made with the yarn I bought from her just a few days before.
She totally loved it.
She loved it so much that she asked me to make one for the store display!!! And in exchange I get free yarn!! FREE YARN!!!!
I have 6 days to make 2 purses.
Felted crochet!!!!
