Dear people who know me and also the people who sort of know of me but maybe aren’t on a first name basis with me,
The Ravelry Mini-Mart has been made accessible to those of you who do not have Ravelry accounts. This is important because otherwise you would not be able to order Ravelry hoodies or Disagree(1) t-shirts…for me…because you want me to look my Ravelbest!
also…
For those of you following the awesome yarn sales over at my etsy shop…
1. Got a batch of HippoMoon roving ready to draft and spin. Give me a few days and I will have some more HippoMoon in stock
2. DJ Stegosaurawk is in the hizzouse and he wants to rock you!
3. The Emperor’s Aurora is gone again. This one is really time intensive, I can spend an entire day drafting together one skein. It will probably be a while before I get some more.
4. In news of awesomeness, I got permission from Jonathan Coulton‘s assistant, Scarface, to name my Pluto/Charon yarn after his song, ‘I’m Your Moon‘. It was not my intention originally to relate the yarn to the song, but every time I worked on the yarn I got the song stuck in my head and whenever I described the story for the yarn people would say, “oh! like that Jonathan Coulton song”. The roving is up and drying for that.
That’s all my foamy peeps. Have an awesome Thursday!

hi HI hhihihihiii!
Hi hi HI HI HI!!! hi!
Hi! HI! My name is Chester. I am CHESTER! I am the dog that lives with the lady and the man and the doofus Maddie! That is me! and I am doing the thing that is telling you about the thing that is….
The lady. OH MY GOD!!! Okay, you know the lady? She is the lady that does the things that are take you to the dog park and also put cuddles on you and put your warmiecoat on you! Right? You know this lady? YOU KNOW HER!! I know you know her because my name is Chester and the thing that I know is all of the stuff! Right! YEAH!!!
So the lady did the thing that was dye the yarn and spin the yarn and say the thing that was “Chester! Get the hell away from the wool or I will put you in a box and mail you up someone’s butt!”
SHE DID THOSE THINGS!!! And now the thing that she is doing is she is selling the yarn to the peoples that are not her or the man (the man! he does not do things with yarn! he does things that are running with Chester and eating a burrito!!!). So
SO
OH MY GOD! Okay so my name is Chester and the thing that I get to do is tell you that there is yarn and that if you want a yarn you can buy the yarn and if I tell you this then I can have the thing that is the peanut butter biscuit!! Right!!
YEAH
Chester
Dead
I think the laptop did completely and thoroughly die. This time, the hard drive should be fine, it’s just everything else that does not want to work.
I accept this (mostly). It’s almost 5 years old and in that time it has accumulated more abuse than a …oh I don’t know…Thai hooker? feedlot cow? unpopular opinion? So I’m not surprised it died, just really really pissed and mostly I am pissed because i have emotional issues and poor anger management skills…or something.
Anyway, pie.
also, i am trying to decide if it is awesome or retarded that i made a yarn color based on emperor penguins watching the aurora australis while protecting their eggs. awesomely retarded? retardedly awesome?
also, I am leaving for Missouri on Wednesday. This fills me with insanely unhealthy amounts of anxiety, but i will have my dogs with me so i guess it will be okay.
I wonder is you can make a legitimate sandwich with 2 slices of banana cream pie and a slice of blueberry pie?
the things that I do when I am not thinking of you
let’s look at some photos, shall we…

I made a fort in the living room last week. Maddie wanted to make sure everything was okay! Please note the absolute adoration in her eyes. She adores me despite the gigantic zit on my chin.
One good face snuffle to make sure I am okay and then…
She goes on guard duty!
hee hee hee piggotail!
I kept trying and trying to find a way to dye my roving in this splotchy manner without having to lay it out and squirt the dye on it. I wanted a quick and easy way in the crock pot. Most of my attempts made solid color roving. Quite by accident I got this when I pulled the roving out of the crock pot this morning. Happy.
Yellow roving and green roving to be spun up and then plyed with white for my ‘Creamsicle’ collection (ha ha ha I decided to have a ‘collection’. awesome)
This is the first Creamsicle batch done up in orange
lots of Creamsicle!
This is a blue and purple yarn I call HippoMoon
More HippoMoon
Noodly purple stuff that needs to be soaked and hung up. Still unsure about what I will do with it.
It’s like chest hair for Grimace!
oh my god! I love my moon boots!
How could you not??
Even Maddie loves my Moon Boots!!!
Today, Maddie turns 8 years old. You wouldn’t know she was 8 when you hung out with her. She is bright and active and definitely outliving most shar pei expectations! Happy Birthday, Maddie! Eight years old is BIG GIRL TIMES!
Olde Schoole
Got me a spinning wheel! Yep! Got me a spinning wheel and I sat down and I SPINNED!
Took some trial and error, some moments of crinkled foreheads and a couple of “oh shits” but I got it figured out. At least I think I do! I spun up and plied some border leicester from The March Hare. It’s nothing to write home about, this yarn I made, but I managed to work and learn the different aspects of the spinning wheel. Now it’s just a matter of maintaining some consistency in my drafting.
This morning I ordered 8 pounds (8 POUNDS) of merino roving, along with a set of dye from Indie Dyer. Awesome!
In other happenings:
I slept for 32 hours. I woke up at about 6:30 this morning after 32 hours of sleep. David had woken me up briefly yesterday to feed me fried egg and cheese sandwiches and I kind of intended to stay awake…but then I decided to go to sleep again. I really really needed that sleep.
My dreams have been incredibly vivid lately, both visually and emotionally. A lot of classic themes of powerlessness and loss, but also a lot of adventure and triumph. In one dream there was a group of assholes who just did everything they could to make me miserable. In turn, I did everything I could to avoid them or, when confronted, to punch them. I didn’t get super upset until they tried to take Maddie away from me!
Do what you will to me, but do not take my dog away!
On Friday I bought the yarn for the Northern Dreams Pullover. Can’t wait to get started on that. Except I have to wait because I have other projects in the hopper that take precedence. Fine.
From the CSA I have kale, cabbage, butternut squash, potatoes, carrots, broccoli and onions. I need to make something delicious and autumnal for dinner that isn’t soup.
It’s 9am and that means it’s time to go to ‘work’.
