Get ready to be appalled…
Friday night we decided to go to the drive-in (more on that later). We drove to the grocery store and stocked up on drive-in food. That night I ate salami, miracle whip, licorice, beef jerky, hawaiian punch, malt cups, triscuits, and gummi peaches.
The next day I had the rest of the salami for lunch, then ate snacks the rest of the day. The big snack of the day was Cheez Flavored Puffcorn Curls (you know Puffcorn Curls…Yeah you do…Your grandma makes that weird caramel corn with the plain variety). At 1 a.m. my blood sugar hit dangerously low levels and I ate a handful of triscuits and a cherry yogurt after I ate an entire bag of licorice whips while lying in bed reading a book.
Sunday was better, Burger King chicken sandwich, their new fries (even crappier than their old fries – they need to stop coating them with various forms of cardboard dust, I mean who do they have taste testing these things anyway? Pudding experts?) and a frozen Minute Maid Cherry thing. Then I got a giant doughnut from Tobies (if you dont know Tobies, I am sorry). Then off to my inlaws for fathers day bbq’d chicken.

This week in food:
It’s grilling time! This week on the grill I have steaks, pork ribs and burgers. Due to inclement weather, I was forced to use the broiler on my skewers of chicken, fresh pineapple and coconut chunks.
Saturday night I had friends over and wowed them with a pretty good meal:
* French bread rounds with brie, green apple and Westphalian ham
* Spinach salad with fruit and raspberry vinaigrette
* Steaks topped with butter sauce, blue cheese and walnuts
* Parmesan Potato Gratin
* Sugar Snap Peas with herbed butter
* Rosemary Focaccia
* A Super Faboo lime almond cheesecake lovingly made by my dear love.
The next day was book club and I did a brunch for that. Made a spinach, potato and bacon frittata and fruit smoothies.
Next weekend is Easter, can’t wait.
Come to me, Colonel!
In my never ending string of month-long cravings, my newest craving has a decidedly unhealthy twist. I totally and absolutely need to eat KFC. And not just anything from KFC, but the 3 piece breast and wing dinner with mashed potatoes and coleslaw (see my previous post concerning my love for the KFC coleslaw). I have eaten KFC 4 times in the last week and I am vying for more.
Popular myth maintains that strong cravings are indicative of a lack of something that your body needs. Seems my body is pretty low on the Colonel’s secret 11 herbs and spices.
I AM THE QUEEN OF KFC
I know that the 3 piece Colonel’s Crispy Strip meal only comes with one side, but I like mashed potatoes AND coleslaw. I don’t let anything stop me. I just boldly ask for the 3 piece Colonel’s Crispy Strip meal and when they mumble “What side do you want with that?” I raise my head and proclaim “Mashed potatoes and coleslaw.”.
They think I am yet another retarded customer who doesn’t know how many sides come with my meal and I know they get a secret pleasure out of having to charge me for my coleslaw. Know what?? I don’t care! I know I have to pay for the coleslaw and I get to eat my coleslaw in peace.
Screw KFC and their preset notions on how many side dishes constitutes a meal.

My Head
A Haiku
God! Fuck! My head hurts!
And the sound of blood rushing
is making me nuts
Okay, it isn’t a good haiku and I have not been in a haiku mood, but the pain in my head is making me crazy. Not enough to be considered a bad headache, but more than a twingey irritant. It is also making my hearing sort of foggy sounding like I am underwater. I think my blood pressure may be high, either that or I have a mini ocean in my head.
Maybe, someday I will tell you about how we are all mini oceans. After that I will tell you about the evolution of bones and kidneys and lungs.
